Women in Business – Wobbles | WWA

Last week I had a bad case of what I call the wobbles. – No it wasn’t various body parts although they DO wobble too. You may know what I’m referring to if  I give you some context. I’m a trainer, presenter, I lead, coach and help connect working women.I run my own business, I put myself out there, I teach presentation & confidence. In my mind I’m not SUPPOSE to have issues with confidence, (or so the inner critic tells me)

I was recently at a business event and like everyone else in the room, I had an opportunity to stand and promote Women with Altitude. I have done this thousands of times right? a no-brainer. And yet when I stood I was suddenly so nervous my heart was pumping, and I could hear it thumping in my ears. Of course the result was I delivered a clunky promo. Yet what was bothering me was the why? What was different on that day?  I knew all the people in the room, some well, some not. There were a lot of of men present – that’s not unusual either.  Is it because like many of us who are in small business, are putting ourselves on the line everyday?

We’re passionate about what we believe in right? and some day’s nerves get the better of us.  I’m not sure, but Im going to choose to hold my nerve. In regards to this recent experience, I will go back and check my basics (preparation and planning for what Im going to say), but looking back  I do think I felt intimidated by some of the business people there, and yes I have to say it; most were men. Now remember this is my issue  and I take responsibility Im not blaming the men in room. I’m just being honest and I wonder if that had something to do with it.  Feeling vulnerable and getting the wobbles in your business or even your life happens to everyone, but I guess it’s what we do next is the key, curl up and give up? Ah no. Not for me, I keep my vulnerability out there and right a blog about it hehehehe

Do you get the wobbles in your business or ever waiver from your belief or conviction about what your doing? Love to hear your thoughts on how you tackle the wobbles. I noticed that the day after I wrote this, Julia Gillard confessed on Q&A that she also has moments of doubt, Share you stories of self doubt and what you do to pull yourself out of it
