One of the spaces that I play regularly as the leader of our wonderful community is the collaboration space. My mantra is that together we can achieve more. That the terms ‘partnering’ and ‘sponsorship’ and working together are powerful notions. Recently in my discussions with small business owners, I have noticed a reluctance, a holding on as if there is fear of the unknown.
It is unknown what will come from collaboration. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. What’s clear though is that it works well when there is engaged activity on both sides of the partnership. I’m not talking about the beautician who puts some flyers in her friend’s hairdressing salon and vice versa. What usually happens in those scenarios? The brochures sit in the corner gathering dust.
An active promotion though where two people are coming together to actively put together an offer that people can tackle up, promote it together and create excitement and talking points with their customers will foster engagement and interest. People are not mind readers; they won’t guess at your offer, its not a set and forget.
Women with Altitude loves partnering for win win win. We are working on fostering partnerships and collaborations. Looking for opportunities where we are talking with similar audiences. The key is to keep centred in an abundant philosophy. When nurturing a connection and you are speaking to the same audiences, or if your businesses are aligned in some way, don’t indulge in fear that it may take away from your product or customer base. If you’ve put together an excellent collaboration with the spirit of ultimately helping the customer, then it should work for all.
This week we are excited to announce a collaboration with the Western Weekender and the Blue Mountains Record. Newspapers need content, paid advertising and the connection with local business to help share local stories. We business owners needs the media and local papers to get our stories out there and enhance our brand awareness.
The business of the week is an opportunity to get your brand, and your business story into the media, The Western Weekender and or the Blue Mountains Record have a special rate for WWA members to take advantage of. But remember this everyone. If you put yourself into the business of the week. Then leverage the exposure, share it in your social media, share with your clients and customers. Raise awareness, leverage and lift your brand.
