Last week was the anniversary of 9/11. There was a wonderful doco on SBS about the forensic process that the New York Medical examiners office undertook to attempt to identify victims and return remains to loved ones. The commitment of this team is extraordinary. Of the 2753 victims of that sad day, only 1640 have been identified. The fact that there is even that many is due to the tenacity and perseverance of the group of individuals at the medical examiners office.
This got me thinking about the unsung heroes of our world. The diligent, quiet human beings who toil away making enormous contributions to our planet, or touching others. They have no parades, no holidays in their honour. They go largely unnoticed……… I have spoken before about the displaced attention and hero status given to sports people and celebrities, it seems so pointless. What about we celebrate the carers, the nurses, The scientists and researchers, trying to understand disease and find cures. The person donating their time to lifeline to listen and support others in crises. The shelter and animal carers, the volunteers serving in soup kitchens. These are the real heroes. Expand your gratitude and share your thanks with someone who makes a difference.
Who are your personal heroes? We would love to know who they are, the stories they have to tell. Brave Magazine is coming back soon and we will be sharing the stories of people in our region who affect us with their actions, and leave impressions and legacies for others.
In 350 words or less, share a story about a someone you consider a hero. Be sure to include a photo and we will include it in Brave Magazine.
Until next week, touch someone every day

Hi Andrea hope your well. Just have to say I really enjoy your Monday blog I find the content very interesting and makes you think about things you don’t normally think about or the things you take for granted Thank you hope your having a great day.
Thank you so much Tina, Yes Im well and I appreciate your comments very much. I just bumble on about the things I think about, I didnt realise people do read them LOL. I think in life I fluctuate between the need to not take things or myself too seriously and then the desire to think very deeply about whats important too – Its a duality that this blogs helps me to express 🙂
