How do you know the difference between a dream and a goal, after all aren’t they the same thing? I used to think so. Now I believe that both are intertwined and equally important to creating your reality. Dreams seem to get bad press, like, “If you stay in your dreams you’ll never move forward” etc. however your dreams are the starting point from which you create your goals. They both need to be nourished and valued. Here are my top 3 mindsets on dreams vs goals, and how they work in harmony;
- Dreams are free and forever being shaped – Goals are the practical actions required to create your dream, they have a cost, but the dream is necessary to know what actions to take in the first place!
- Goals can change your life – taking you to where you want to be for sure. Your dream however supplies the motivation and often the energy to keep taking steps to where you want to be.
- Dreaming stretches your brain and your imagination, goals and actions will stretch and develop you as a person. Goals will produce tangible results, yet it is our dream and imagination that will recognize and celebrate results when we see them match
So dreams and goals are very different yes, but don’t let your thoughts, or people for that matter tell you to stop dreaming or think that you are wasting your time. You’re not. Actions will take you forward but if you’re not moving toward your dream you wont stay with it.
Have a great week DREAMING and IMAGINING your vision for your life.
