Being inspired for change at Problogger 2015 | WWA

Good morning everyone,
Over the weekend I attended my first ever Problogger conference on the Gold Coast along with 700 soulful thinkers, doers and inspirers – I know I know they aren’t words but I don’t care – (Outcome 1. I speak my own truth and thats ok with me) I attended with WWA member Trish Fehon and it was fun, inspiring and wonderful for the creative business juices. Some highlights of what I learned:

bloggereeAmerican Jadha Sellner from Simple Green Smoothies (Vicki Cook if you’re reading this- wow I have so much information to share with you) was inspiring. Largely because she spoke from her heart, totally shared who she was, spread the love but also imparted some great information about how she started her movement in 2012 to a 6 figure income now in 2015.

We discovered the highs and lows of blogging and the impact that it has had on lives, both good and challenging. Heather from Dooce was especially frank about the haters and shared what it felt like to talk to one of her critics about how he created a hateful FB page on her – Even though she clearly has been burnt and is now ever slower to trust anyone, she still spread a message of love – that those haters are in more pain than we could imagine – a brilliant reminder and illuminating perspective.

What I loved was the generosity of people opening up and sharing with each, There were many travelling alone, lots of introverts and insecurities but mostly people were kind and friendly which I really enjoyed. On the down side I got a little over the editing of language when people were talking or speaking or being interviewed, but Il talk about that next week – stop editing people! And just be who you are.
pro-blogger We heard a wonderful story from Brandon Cowan, a finalist on Beauty & the Geek and one of Australia’s top 10 young entrepreneurs at only 21 – He was wonderfully honest and awkward and just adorable. He also shared a story of persistence and how hard he tried to get the Australian blood bank to take on an app (that he was going to build and manage for free) to help more people track how often they give blood etc and all of the inventive ways he kept persisting – and how ultimately he continued to have the door slammed in his face and how he came to the conclusion to let it go.

I must add this so incensed me that an organisation like that had a management team that were so closed minded and with such narrow vision- disappointing.
