Why I Started WWA.
When I first started out in business sixteen years ago, I discovered very quickly that this was a very challenging path. I was a mum, sick of corporate politics and doing the same thing over and over. I had always wanted something of my own, something meaningful and that helped others, but I had an idealised image of what owning a business would be like.
I couldn’t have been more wrong. It was so much harder! I was following my dream, and yet I felt like the juggle of entrepreneurship and family was going to swallow me up. I began to reach out to others for help or support and found some of the networks didn’t speak my language. And certainly didn’t share my philosophy that there is enough business for everyone. I experienced some misogyny and sometimes wasn’t even taken seriously. I knew there had to be a different way and Women with Altitude was born.
What is Women with Altitude?
Women with Altitude (WWA) is a place for women to connect in business or career. We meet regularly in small groups to receive support or advice. Women share their story and promote what they do. We provide workshops and education to support skills in small business, or tools to use in your career or workplace. WWA has a culture of acceptance and warmth. We’re about community and connection, a place to collaborate and cheer each other on. A place to connect your services and or share your experiences with others. Whether you’re a mum, a newly appointed manager, a long-term business operator or wondering about your purpose on what to do next. This is a tribe of women dedicated to helping each other succeed.
