We can always do a little more | WWA

These words caught my eye on the weekend. I was reading about the wonderful work of the original Lieutenant Dan, Gary Sinise. Can you hear Forest Gump saying his name? Did you know that Gary has a foundation for war veterans in the USA? I didn’t know this and I was inspired. Here is their mission:

At the Gary Sinise Foundation, we serve our nation by
honouring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need.
We do this by creating and supporting unique programs designed to entertain, educate,
inspire, strengthen, and build communities.

What I loved was the message ‘we can always do a little more’ Where he focuses this statement is in regards to veterans and showing our gratitude and making sure we remember.  One of the ways that Gary Sinise lives this message is through his Lt Dan Band – How cool is that!

Gary’s Foundation puts on Invincible Spirit Festivals, I thought I was going to lift off my chair, I was so
in awe of this amazing man and his staff who make these amazing things happen. It got me thinking about how things happen for a reason. In an upcoming film about Garys and his work, he explains how he was taken by veterans stories after seeing a play in the late 70’s that had been written by returning servicemen. He then manifested the role of Lt Dan and now I understand why he played this character so well and won the best supporting actor gong in 1995.
Gary has jumped up my list of people I would love to meet. Here is the preview of a new documentary about him too.

I hope you are touched today. I was moved to tears and had no idea that he did this. When I think of some of the airhead celebrities taking up spaces to fight and bicker and flick their money from their palms… I will give thanks for the amazing Gary Sinise
Until next week
Love and hugs
