Small Business vs Big Business | WWA

Today I’m thankful that I’m in small business. Whilst it can be over- whelming and all consuming, at least we can be nimble, personable and above all flexible with our products and services. We have the ability to build relationship with our clients in ways that big business cant. Recently I changed motor vehicle insurers. The person I spoke with went into a flap, and I had to be put through to the relationships person who asked me why I was leaving. I told him, I have never made a claim in my driving life, and I have been offered a good deal with a new provider and I’m going to give them a try. At this point he says, yes you have a very good record and have no claims, and wants to offer me a better deal. The thing is though, I have been with this same company for years and years. perhaps if they had been smaller they would have noticed this of their good clients. A small business, in my opinion, would have.

The landscape of business is changing so much, I wonder how we can all keep up. For example as small businesses we used to think that we couldn’t do business with big business, but now that just not the case. Angela Maguire from the Gap Consultancy is really capitalising on this. As a small business Angela can be nimble, competitive and win big business contracts and make it work for her. Angela doesn’t have huge overheads and contracts her team so that she can flex in and out as required.  Big business are learning from small business and are becoming more open to partnerships and working together. Its time we debunk the myth that big business isn’t interested.  A partnership is possible if you have something you can mutually offer and assist with, the key is to brave up and give it a go. I’m doing that right now in my business and whilst its scary, its also about owning and claiming the great products and services you have to offer. Own it,  you have something special to offer.

Until next week
