Lessons learnt from Oprah | WWA

Last week I had the privelege to be one of the thousands of women who attended an evening with Oprah. The atmosphere was full of grace, high energy and oodles of love for this iconic and inspiring leader. I was joined by fellow wwa members, Amanda O’Bryan, Sandra Dennis, Jen Brown & Sue Eaglesham. Our collective view of the night was that we have received a great gift. here are the lessons learnt from Oprah;

Amanda: The biggest thing I took away was intention – weaving intention into everything we do, this has come up a bit this year
Jen:ย For me, it was the fact that anything truly is possible.ย  To see what she has become given the cards she was dealt in life proves to me that anything truly is possible with the right approach (being mindset/belief PLUS hard work).
Sandra: “You receive from the world what you give to the world”
Live every day with intention…
Listen to your inner voice, it may only be a whisper, but it’s trying to tell you something. Don’t ignore it.

There were a few things that spoke to me. Oprah lives by her intuition, she has always trusted it and has let it guide her since she was 9. She talked about intention. “What is your intention” what do you want?

It always comes back to this – What do you a actually want. This is the fundamental that needs to be established so that you can then set your intention. When Oprah realised on her talk show that she was out of integrity, and that she didn’t want to participate in jilted lovers or be part of the humiliation of people. She stopped it. She made a new intention for her show that reflected what she wanted to contribute to the world. As soon as she did that her show one its first Emmy. Talk about the universe giving you feedback that you are on track of off track!

The other thing that stuck for me was let it go. I get how powerful this is, and I get that its hard sometimes. Like being really attached to your kids being happy. Or winning a great client or contract etc etc. Oprah shared her story about the colour purple. About how passionately she had loved that book, about how when she heard that there would be a film made, she wanted to be part of it so badly, she would have carried the water or photocopied scripts. About how she manifested it only after she finally let it go and truly unattached herself from the outcome of her audition.

This holidays I’m spending time getting clearer on what I want and what my intention is.
What is your intention?

The biggest hugs and love that I can muster, to wish you the happiest Christmas. See you in 2016
