Everyone All In – Fighting for rights for women | WWA

I’m compelled this morning to talk about the amazing turn out of people to the march on Washington on the weekend. I know its the USA and its not Australia, however the issues raised affect people all over the world and therefore important we listen. What a great example of harnessing of people power, a gathering of all ethnicities, backgrounds and experiences. Yes, there is white privilege,  my hand is up immediately to acknowledge that. The co-chair of the march, Tamika Mallory describes this well when people ask her what she thinks of Donald Trump being president, her answer is “welcome to my world.” I acknowledge that indigenous peoples, people of a different colour to me have experienced levels of discrimination that I as a white woman will never know.

What I loved about this weekend’s rally was that there is a time to join and work together. Many of you recognise this as a favourite theme of mine, and I was inspired by the organisers of the march on Washington and thought I would share some these

Linda Sarsour:
Linda Sarsour is a working woman, racial justice and civil rights activist, every Islamophobe’s worst nightmare, and mother of three.  Ambitious, outspoken and independent, Linda shatters stereotypes of Muslim women while also treasuring her religious and ethnic heritage. She is a Palestinian Muslim American and a self-proclaimed “pure New Yorker, born and raised in Brooklyn!”
